viperMOD PrimeTime updated to v4.5!

Posted in Transformer Prime on February 22nd, 2012 by viperboy

Now that we have an unlock tool from Asus for the bootloader, I have updated PrimeTime to install that for you and automatically flash CWM! Everything else from previous PrimeTime versions is still there.

Please note: If you already have the unlock tool installed, you will get an error in PrimeTime about the package already being installed. Ignore it and continue on.

viperMOD Primer Tool for Asus Transformer Prime!

Posted in Transformer Prime on January 4th, 2012 by viperboy

I’m not too creative with names, but I did create a Windows (Linux coming) rooting helper to make the NachoRoot process a little bit simpler, and here is viperMOD Primer! First, I do want to thank jcase and TeamAndIRC for the root method that this program uses. I hope you all will donate to him so that he can get a Prime! Now, here is how it works…

  • Download the .zip
  • Plug in your Transformer and make sure to install the drivers located in the included .zip
  • Run the viperMOD Primer Tool.exe and choose an option.
  • ???
  • Profit!

It’s as simple as that! I have tested this about 30 times (both rooting and unrooting) and it works just fine! Everytime you run the root process, it will download a fresh copy of NachoRoot (could be updates, even if the tool isn’t updated) Any issues or questions, please feel free to post in the RootzWiki or XDA threads! Enjoy your rooted Prime!

Merry Christmas! …and a special gift for EVO 3D users!

Posted in E3D, News, Testing on December 25th, 2011 by viperboy

Merry Christmas, everyone! I hope your holiday is filled with happiness and cheer, enjoy the time with friends and family!

For my EVO 3D users, here is a special Chrismas present for you! I have made a Desense .zip for you guys, just a little bit of information on it. Seems to work well, but there are a few things you should know:

  • Dialer and SMS might not ever happen (because of HTC framework)
  • AOSP Calculator not included (doesn’t show up in apps list)
  • AOSP Browser not included (FCs right away)
  • Might be other issues I haven’t found yet
Please test and let me know how it works! Merry Christmas!

Good things to come!

Posted in News on December 23rd, 2011 by viperboy

I know I haven’t done too much work on much other than the HTC EVO 3D, but there are a few good things coming over the next few weeks! I have picked up an OG Droid, EVO 4G, EVO Shift, and HTC EVO View and I plan to have a ROM for each of those devices.

As is stands right now, I will get viperROM Redline v1 out for the View some time tonight, possibly tomorrow. I have the ROM for the EVO Shift about 80% done, looking at a release date sometime next week. I haven’t started on the D1 or EVO 4G yet but I will probably after the new year. All builds (except for the D1) are going to be from the latest official RUU, afterall, we are all about stability here at viperROM :)

What’s next? Well, after all of these devices listed above have atleast their first builds done, I would like to do an AOSP version of viperROM for the EVO 4G, this will help me more with developing from source. I could also see doing a Sense 3.5 build for the EVO 3D, Sense 3.0 and/or 3.5 builds for the Shift and EVO 4G. I would also really like to start in the world of kernel development and I think the View would be a good place to start because there seems to be a lack of developer support for the View.

Lastly, Samsung Epic 4G Touch guys: I have not forgotten about you! I am working on the next version of the ROM and that will (hopefully) be done in the next few days. Trust me, I would love to be on the latest build myself. I just haven’t done much work with it since it was nice and stable for me so it didn’t really need updated. But at this point, the ROM is 2 versions behind so it just needs updating just because :)

Thank you all for your patience and support!

Posted in E3D, ROMs, Testing on December 10th, 2011 by viperboy

This build should be the fastest, most stable, best battery viperROM to date! Once I get feedback from the testers, I will release to everyone else, most likely late tomorrow night. Here is what is new in Redline v2.1:

  • Updated vC to work with Chad’s kernels
  • More tweaks to init.d, network, kernel, system, and build.prop
  • Tweaks for OOM (Out Of Memory) settings
  • Ultra Smooth Sense

Updates: Android and I [12.9.11]

Posted in E3D, E4GT, ROMs on December 9th, 2011 by viperboy

I know I have been absent the past week or so, but I just wanted to make a post about what is going on with viperROM and my other Android projects.

Info about Me: I am on a mini-vacation (flew down to FL yesterday) and I will be here until late Tuesday. I won’t be working on much Android related stuff because I just need some time to unwind and relax. School and work has been really crazy for me recently and I just need a break for a few days. When I return, school will be over and I will have more time to dedicate to Android!

viperROM for HTC EVO 3D: You guys have been getting alot of attention from me recently and I have had a great group of testers helping me out. We are one build away from what will be viperROM Redline v2.1 with some new enhancements and even better battery life! This is my first priority when I get back to work on my Android stuff (and maybe I will spend a little bit of time with my E3D in the next few days and get the update out, wouldn’t take too long).

viperROM for Samsung Epic 4G Touch: I know that my ROM is “out of date” now with EK02 out, but the current build is still very solid. I do have the new base done and it’s just a matter of moving over everything from the previous build to the new one and doing some testing (which I will need some good testers for!) The next release will probably be called “Redline” to keep in line with my other ROMs and will feature more tweaks, improved battery life, and improved speed. Good things are coming, please just give me some time.

ICS for the Samsung Epic 4G Touch: I have not been putting in too much effort on this because of how crazy my life has been (read the “Info about Me” section if you didn’t already). I did not forget about this at all, I would love to get this done ASAP but after a talk with codeworkx and SteadyHawkin, it seems the best path is to get CM7 fully working on the E4GT first because that makes the transition to ICS much, much easier. I know bubby has been working on CM and I hope that we can all come together in the upcoming weeks and make some real progress on CM7/AOSP/ICS.

viperMOD LoS Checker: I am no longer support this MOD for a variety of reasons – 1) I have enough Android work to work on as it is. 2) I hope that with the EK02 update this will no longer be needed. And 3) XDA member trifthen has created a nice new version based off of my original LoS Checker. More information can be found here and he seems to offer great support! I highly encourage you to check it out!

viperMOD Voltage Control: I know this has been a WIP for like 6 months now, but my friend Ben who is doing pretty much all the work on the app has been very busy with work, family, and life in general. Android should always take a backseat to those things and, therefore, when there is more time available more progress will be made on vMVC. The app is in its final stages and is nearing completion, it’s just the last 5-10% of work that seems to take the longest but I don’t see this being too much longer.

Other Android Info: I purchased the HTC EVO View tablet today from http://1saleaday.com/ and I do intend to create viperROM for it as well! With the holidays and everything approaching, I don’t know when I will get this but I am very excited to start development on it! I also will be getting the Asus Transformer Prime when it comes out, but, I do not know if I will develop for it – atleast initially. I know that there are some very talented devs that have the current Transformer that plan to get the Prime and I’m sure the quality of their work will be the same as it is now. Truth be told, I don’t even run my own ROM on my current Transformer because I use Revolver and it has been the only ROM my TF has ever seen and I know my future Prime is already looking forward to a dose of Revolver! When ICS comes to the Prime, that might be a different story. Honeycomb just doesn’t interest me much but ICS sure does!

Supporting Other Devices: I have gotten a few requests from people about bringing viperROM to other devices (T-Mo SGS2, Rezound, Epic, just to name a few) and I have given everyone the same answer and I would like to reiterate it here as well… I believe in putting out a solid product that I am proud to put my name on. I am not the best Dev out there, many are more talented than me, but with the work that I do, I do the best that I can. For me to release a ROM for a devices, I need to thoroughly test my work and try everything multiple times and then try to break my ROM. This isn’t a fast or easy process. If you would like me to support a device, I will happily do so, but, I NEED to have access to the device. I will not do what others do and make a ROM for every device, I’m all about quality not quantity. I don’t expect to keep it (although that would really help to continue support on the ROM) but just being able to use it and test with it during the development of a ROM and after the ROM (for user support) is essential for me.

I know this was a long post, but I hope that it fills in everyone on any questions that they may have had. As always, hit me up on Twitter if you have more questions or anything, I try to respond to everyone.

Redline v2.1 Build 2 for EVO 3D Up For Testers!

Posted in E3D, Testing on December 4th, 2011 by viperboy

Build 2 is up for testers! If you don’t have the password, please send me an email at viperboy@tiamat-dev.com and let me know. Some testers might not have the password, as I changed the method for distributing the test builds about half way through the PMs. If there are any problems with flashing the update (haven’t tested it as I flashed the full build) email me or post on XDA. I will await feedback on this build, but there should be no issues! Please visit the link below…

New Testing Page for viperROM/viperMOD

Posted in Testing on November 30th, 2011 by cayniarb

I have created a new page for testers to grab the test updates from under the links on the right. For non-testers, this will tell you what we are currently testing. For testers, following that link will take you to a page where you enter the password you were provided to gain access to what you are going to be testing. This password should give you access to all test builds, unless I change that password.

If you would like to gain access to testing builds, please send me an email to viperboy@tiamat-dev.com with the subject “Test for EVO 3D”, for example, as there may be multiple test builds for multiple phones at one time. Thanks for everyone who has volunteered to test!
